Simple Hand Puppets Simple Hand Puppets have no moving parts. They could be stiff, made from a hard plastic, or flexible, made from fabric. The mouth may be a decoration that doesn't actually move, or a pocket that the thumb goes inside and can move around. These hand puppets will generally not be that much bigger than the hand itself. Simple Hand Puppets are often used as children toys, especially well known characters.
Hand And Rod Puppets Hand and Rod Puppets take two hands to work. One hand is inside the puppet, in the general way, and the other is used to work the rods, that are attached to the puppets hands. These rods are made out of wood or wire, and make the puppets more realistic when moving around. Many hand and rod puppets only use the top half of their characters body with the stage covering up where their legs should be, or they only have hanging legs. These types of puppets are often used at carnivals or fairs. Did you know: The Muppets and Sesame Street characters are all hand and rod puppets.
Glove Puppets Glove Puppets are similar to Simple Hand Puppets, however they are made out of gloves. This means that both legs and both arms are one finger and are smaller but more realistic.
Sock Puppets Sock puppets are also similar to Simple Hand Puppets, however they are made of socks.
Finger Puppets Finger Puppets are tiny puppets that fit on a single finger.
